Boasting views of Franklin St. impressive to both first-timers and regulars, TOPO also has a menu chock-full of hospitable offerings. My fried chicken came topped in mushroom cream gravy with sides of mashed potatoes, sautéed green beans and a house-baked biscuit so good it rivals those other biscuit joints in town. And of course, the quintessential meal in our college town had to be finished off with a brewtail combining Old Well White with TOPO gin. Buttermilk Fried Chicken, $14.99; Dogwood Brewtail, $9 TW
