Beer and Brats – Thursday, 5-7 p.m. – Head to Southern Season after work to sample brats and Ommegang beer.

Southern Village Summer Outdoor Concert Series – Thursday, 7-9 p.m. – Wes Collins first picked up a guitar when he was seventeen, and after a brief hiatus, he is back making music.

Violet, A Musical – Thursday-Saturday, 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, 2 p.m – Presented by the PlayMakers’ Summer Youth Conservatory, the area’s best and brightest high school and middle school talent from Triangle-area schools will perform the musical about a woman from Spruce Pines, N.C., on a quest to heal a scar. See website for ticket details.

10 By 10 in the Triangle – Thursday-Saturday, 8 p.m. – Join the ArtsCenter for this 15th annual Triangle event celebrating theatrical shorts. Ten of the best original ten-minute plays were selected from over 1,100 submissions.

Family Movie Matinee – Friday, 2-3:30 p.m. – Bring the family to the Chapel Hill Public Library for the screening of “Norm of the North”.

Fridays on the Front Porch – Friday, 5-8 p.m. – Counter Clockwise will be performing on The Carolina Inn‘s front lawn, and food truck favorites will keep you satiated.

Ribbon Cutting – Friday, 5 p.m. – Come celebrate the opening of a 95-foot pedestrian footbridge at the “Oxbow” of Eno River.

Fakes, Forgeries and Reproductions – Saturday, 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. – This day-long seminar at Leland Little Auctions in Hillsborough will feature lectures concerning fakes, forgeries and reproductions of art and furniture made or used in America. See website for ticket info.

How Does Your Garden Grow? – Saturday, 10:15-11:15 a.m. – For a $10 ticket, younger children at Kidzu Museum can explore outdoor discovery centers, while older children can conduct mini-research projects.

Asian Takeout at Home – Saturday, 6-8 p.m. – A ticket at Midway Community Kitchen gets you cooking techniques for gluten-free bites such as a spring roll party bar and stir fry. Dinner and drinks provided.

Jazz Brunch – Sunday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. – This free event at Weaver Street Market Hillsborough will feature the Onyx Club Boys. Bring a picnic blanket and/or chair.

Family and Friends Sunday – Sunday, 1-5 p.m. – The Ackland Art Museum invites you to this free event to make your own work of art to take home, and play a round of bingo or two.

Music at Local 506 Sunday, 3pm – The 3@3 will feature Electrick LadyLand, The Famous Slip Slams and Darling Dischord.

Toys for Tots Christmas in July – Sunday, 5-10pm – The Strowd is hosting this early campaign effort to collect new, unwrapped toys and books for less fortunate local children.

Southern Village Summer Outdoor Concert Series – Sunday, 6-8pm – Jesse DeConto will lead Beer & Hymns. Sing along to hymns and pop tunes while enjoying brews and bites from Carolina Brewery and Southern Village restaurants.

Isaac Derr and Melanie Lambert at Johnny’s – Sunday, 7-9 p.m. – Let live music brighten your Sunday at Johnny’s Gone Fishing.
