Dan and the Footnotes – Thursday, 7-9pm – Come enjoy soulful folk music on the Village Green stage for the Summer Outdoor Concert Series in Southern Village. Bring a blanket with the pups and the kids for a fun-filled night for the whole family!

New Gayle Scott Lowry Exhibition – Thursday-Saturday, 11am-6pm – Stroll through Tyndall Galleries this weekend and explore the new exhibit of harsh, empty landscapes by Gayle Scott Lowry that walk you through an artistic narrative. This exhibition can be viewed through September 3rd, so don’t miss your chance to see this art!

Family Movie Matinee – Friday, 2-4pm – Grab the family and head down to the Chapel Hill Public Library for an afternoon showing of “Zootopia.” This hilarious-yet-insightful movie is fun for all ages!

Fridays on the Front Porch – Friday, 5-8pm – Bring a lawn chair and enjoy live music by Big Fat Gap at The Carolina Inn. Make sure to grab some grub from D’Burritos food truck.

Paperhand Puppet Intervention’s Summer Show – Friday-Sunday, 7pm – This year’s show is titled “The Beautiful Beast” and promises to be dazzling as it highlights creatures and monsters that are brought to life with the help of the team’s incredible puppet artistry. Arrive early to Forest Theatre for a seat.

Failure: A Love Story – Friday-Saturday, 7:30pm; Sunday, 3pm – Don’t miss One Song Productions’ newest show about family, clocks and love. The musical, produced and performed by Durham and Chapel Hill high school students, will be held at The ArtsCenter.

Adopt a Dog Event – Saturday, 10am-12pm – Join Paws4Ever in the Gene Strowd Community Rose Garden to meet some new furry friends. Bring your own pup for treats and the opportunity to learn about the organization’s training and legacy care programs.

6th Annual Mead Day and Renaissance Faire – Saturday, 12 pm – Celebrate everything mead at this day-long fest kicking off at 11 am with a Harry Potter book launch at Chatham Marketplace. The fanfare will be followed by live music by Thunder and Spice, sword fighting demonstrations and artisan food products and handmade items.

Ice Cream Social – Saturday, 2-3pm – It’s time to celebrate a summer of reading! Come to the Orange County Public Library for crafts, games and lots of ice cream. Don’t forget to bring your reading log; turn it in for a chance to win a Kindle Fire.

Meet the Heels – Saturday, 4-6pm – With football season fast approaching, now is the perfect time to meet the new Tar Heels who will be storming the field later this August. Not a football fan? The Carolina men’s soccer team will also be signing autographs for the first hour at the Eddie Smith Field House.

Southern Village Summer Concert  – Sunday, 6-8pm – Check out David Dyer & The Crooked Smile Band on Village Green stage. The alt-country band will be playing new tunes from their latest album, “Taproot” along with past hits.

Sages and The Landing with Gabriel David – Sunday, 9pm – Catch a great late-weekend concert at Local 506. Sages and The Landing with Gabriel David put a new spin on classic genres, referring to their work as “soul-fusion” and “space-pop.”
