Following a book reading at Wilson Library, writers who contributed to 27 Views of Chapel Hill and other guests gathered yesterday evening at the home of UNC President Tom Ross and his wife, Susan.

The ticketed reception, which included a silent auction, raised money for the Chapel Hill Public Library Foundation and the expansion of the new public library, which is scheduled to open in early 2013. The library is temporarily housed inside University Mall. George Cianciolo of the foundation announced at the reception the launch of a $1 million capital campaign to raise funds for the opening. Since 1997, the foundation has donated more than $400,000 to the Chapel Hill Public Library by reaching out to the private sector for support.
