Sparks flew when Harry Kaplowitz and Lindsey Rava met while working together on a production of The Nutcracker at Memorial Hall. The two UNC alums slipped away for a cup of coffee at Jack Sprat Cafe during intermission and then had a second date at Linda’s.

Although the connection was instant, the timing couldn’t have been worse. Lindsey was about to move to California to start a new job, and she wasn’t pining for a long-distance relationship.

But Harry didn’t give up so easily. The relationship continued cross-country, and Lindsey eventually moved back to Chapel Hill to see if things would work out.

They did. Harry proposed with a scavenger hunt of gifts that led Lindsey to her ring – and then a dinner with her parents who had flown in from California as a surprise. The couple married at The Pavilions at the Angus Barn and held their reception at the Prestonwood Country Club.

In attendance were the bride’s parents, Andrew and Janice Rava of Bonita Springs, Florida, and the groom’s parents, Gary and Maria Kaplowitz of Henderson. Local members of the bridal party included Joseph Schwartz and Elizabeth Ely.

Harry and Lindsey reside in Cary and are employed by UNC. Lindsey works in the office of development, and Harry is the marketing coordinator for the General Alumni Association. CHM
