fix a home 2011 3

Chris Guffey of Prudential YSU.

This week, the Greater Chapel Hill Association of Realtors has been rolling up their sleeves during the Fifth Annual Fix-A-Home Project. From planting mums to laying a new kitchen floor, they gave new life to the Carrboro home of Jackie Helvey. A single mom with two daughters, she has little time or money for home repairs.

"I'm not sure how I would have managed taking care of all of the issues I faced with my house, much less all of the improvements that have been made," she says. "A new kitchen with my washer and dryer upstairs will truly be a godsend. Getting a walkway out front that will last a lifetime and having the backyard cleaned out and trees trimmed so I don't have to shudder with every storm is something I never thought I would ever see. I can't thank everyone enough for investing their time, energy and help with this project. It truly means the world to me."
