Friday, March 12

6-9pm: Galleries and showrooms stay open late for the Second Friday Artwalk downtown.

8pm: Folk/Americana band The Carrbros perform at the Open Eye Café.

Saturday, March 13

8am: The Shamrock Run for Hope, a 5K and 10K in Pittsboro, raises money for Relay for Life. $30.

10am-noon: At the Ackland’s Drawing for Kids, 9- to 12-year-olds are provided materials to practice techniques like contour drawing and shading. $5.

11am-4pm: The Sixth Annual LEGO-Palooza exhibit at Morehead Planetarium features scenes created by members of the N.C. LEGO Users Group. Free. *Also on display Sunday from 1-4pm.

8:30pm: At the ArtsCenter, Ohio group Over the Rhine performs mellow tunes. (See below for a YouTube clip of the husband and wife covering the Leonard Cohen classic, “Hallelujah.”) $16-$18.

 

Sunday, March 14

7pm: Gear up for St. Patrick’s Day with a performance by Irish group Patrick Street at the ArtsCenter. $25.

7:30pm: Brazilian guitar legend Gilberto Gil performs at Memorial Hall. $30 and up.

7:30pm: The Jon Metzger Quartet performs at the West End Wine Bar’s Sunday Evening Jazz Series. $4.

Boston's Session Americana is playing FRI night at The West End Wine Bar. Their shows are completely sold-out here back home and for good reason. They're great! See www.sessionamericana.com.
