It’s official: Summer and its humidity have fully descended on Chapel Hill.

Thankfully, there are a lot of ways to keep cool and/or still have fun in the heat. Here are some of my local summer favorites:

• Kayaking! (Check out Paddle Creek – full review here.)

• Swimming. My favorite spots (besides the pool) are Jordan Lake (full review here) and Falls Lake (full review here).

• Visiting farmers' markets. While this won’t keep you cool, farmers' markets are the best in summer. The Carrboro Farmers' Market is in full swing, and there’s a farmers' market in Southern Village in the summers, too. I love supporting local farmers – and the produce tastes so much fresher. Also check out the Chapel Hill Farmers' Market.

• Biking. Even if it’s hot, the breeze feels amazing. I love biking in Hillsborough.

And while we’re at it – Want some keep-cool recipes that are perfect for summer? Check out my recent post: 3 Quick & Easy Healthy Breakfast Recipes.

Hope you’re all enjoying your summers! What are your favorite spots for keeping cool?
