"Zanzibar" by Leon Godwin was the winner of the 2010 contest.
To those who love capturing ordinary moments and extraordinary ones, The ArtsCenter announces a call for entries for its 19th Annual Community Photography Contest. Entries will be accepted for the juried show from April 9 through April 27, and the selected photos will be on exhibit in the Center Gallery during the month of May. Winners will be announced at the exhibit’s opening on May 11, coinciding with the Second Friday ArtWalk.
Two photographs may be submitted for each $25 adult entry fee or $10 fee for youth entries (ages 14 and younger). Or submit one photo for a $15 adult entry fee. All proceeds support ArtSchool scholarships, as well as scholarships for The ArtsCenter’s ArtsCamp for youth, giving everyone a chance to enjoy the arts.
Prizes will be awarded at the opening reception on May 11. Best in Show prizes will be awarded separately for adult and youth divisions in addition to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes in the color and black and white categories. Area merchants donate prizes, including gift certificates to local businesses and service providers.
Also this year, Chapel Hill Magazine's The WEEKLY will publish the photos of select winners.
Photographs may be listed for sale during the exhibition. All photographs must be supplied ready for hanging. For more information, please contact Phaedra Kelly at (919) 929-2787 ext. 207 or ArtSchool@ArtsCenterLive.org. Or visit the website to download a copy of the contest rules and entry form.
