Acme
Owner and head chef Kevin Callaghan does right by Thanksgiving here in the "Southern part of heaven." Callaghan says, "At Acme, we do the Southern thing." And from biscuits to bourbon, these Southern flavors mingle to create a Thanksgiving with a down-home feel.
Acme's three-course meal begins modestly with a choice of soup or salad, and then come the real fixings. Of course there will be deep fried turkey, but like any Southern Thanksgiving meal, the sides -- biscuit and cornbread dressing, bourbon sweet potatoes, country-style green beans, mashed Yukon golden potatoes and Southern collard greens -- steal the show. And desserts hold true to the Southern theme, including white chocolate and pumpkin bread pudding with spiced bourbon hard sauce, a warm apple and pear streudel and a dark chocolate terrine with coffee-caramel Sauce
$27.95 for three courses, served from noon to 8 p.m.

Elaine's on Franklin
Owner/Chef Bret Jennings of Elaine's on Franklin believes in the importance of locally grown and locally sourced food. So it's no surprise that Jennings is pulling all his resources to craft a home-grown Thanksgiving, giving his guests a "tour" of the Old North State.
Elaine's Thanksgiving meal comes in three courses, beginning with a soup or salad. Choices inlude Brinkley Farm's curried butternut squash soup with mint coconut yogurt and pumpkin seed oil and house-smoked N.C. bluefish with arugula, horseradish dressing, homemade potato chips and chioggia beets. The main courses range from fresh, lightly smoked organic turkey brest with sweet potatoes, chanterelles, arugula and cranberry-apple relish to wild N.C. speckled trout amandine with roasted potatoes, green beans, spinich, almonds and sherry. And keeping with the local theme, one of the desserts offered is Pine Knot Farm's sweet potato pound cake with creme fraiche ice ceam, maple syrup and pecans.
