Do you like this?

sky blue

Love Sky Blue but hate that you can't easily carry it to a cookout by the lake? Problem solved. For the first time, Carolina Brewery has begun offering its award-winning golden ale in six packs of 12-ounce cans. The new packaging opens retail opportunities for Carolina Brewery’s expanding network of distributors statewide.

"We are very excited to offer our craft beer in cans for this summer season,” says Carolina Brewery owner Robert Poitras. “We chose the can for a variety of reasons including its ability to go places where bottles are not welcome such as pools, golf courses, boats and beaches. Cans have a low environmental impact and ease of recycling, which further attracted us to cans over bottles."

Sky Blue Golden Ale is the first Carolina Brewery canned beer offering. The company will continue to offer Sky Blue Golden Ale and their other signature beers in 64-ounce growlers and by the keg for its wholesale customers. Since expanding brewing operations with the opening of its Pittsboro location, Carolina Brewery has dramatically expanded its wholesale distribution. With the recent addition of R.A. Jeffreys in eastern North Carolina to the coast, Carolina Brewery beers are now available in bars, restaurants, grocery stores and other retail accounts from the beaches to the mountains of North Carolina.

In other news, the brewery took home six Carolinas Championship of Beer Medals at the Hickory Hops Beer Festival on April 16 and 17 in Hickory -- including gold for its Jumpin’ Bean Coffee Stout, silvers for Sky Blue Golden Ale, Flagship IPA, and Downtown Trolley Brown, and bronze medals for Oatmeal Porter and Bullpen Pale Ale.

The competition featured 286 entries spanning 85 different beer styles from more than 40 breweries located throughout the Southeast. Entries were tasted blindly by a panel of certified judges.
