If you're looking for a fun activity or a simple pick-me-up for your Saturday afternoon, Carrboro Coffee Roasters is hosting free coffee cupping classes to teach you the industry practice of how to detect what makes some of the world's best coffees. Not only will you get the inside scoop on what makes your morning boost so enjoyable, but it may serve as the perfect Saturday afternoon date idea.

These free classes will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Roastery at 101 S. Greensboro St. in Carrboro on the following Saturdays: Jan. 19; Feb. 2 and 16; and March 2, 16 and 30.

After tasting the perfect cup of coffee, you may be wondering how you can capture that taste in your own coffee maker at home. For $15 per session, Carrboro Coffee Roasters will host their Espresso 101 workshop on Saturday, Jan. 6 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and a Coffee at Home workshop on Saturday, Feb. 9 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

In addition, there will be a number of other coffee workshops available, including the Signature Beverage Service, Milk Steaming and Latte Art, The World of Coffee, and U.S. Barista Championship Tasting workshops, all for $15 each. You can RSVP for these classes by e-mailing carrborocoffee@hotmail.com or calling (919) 968-4760. For more information, click here.
