With Glee Kids on the brink of closing, a loyal customer swooped in and saved the day. Noelle Garstka, who has children ages 1, 4 and 6, saw on the store’s email list about a month ago that then-owner Melissa Russell planned to close.

Garstka emailed back to see if Russell would consider selling the clothing store, which is for children up to age 12, and the two struck a deal.

“I didn’t want to see the store close,” Garstka says. “This is right up my alley. So my husband [Jim] and I bought it.”

The Garstkas moved to Chapel Hill from the San Francisco Bay area last summer and love their new home, she says, so they are excited to be establishing themselves with Glee.

“The Glee customers have been so excited to see the store stay open,” Garstka says. “They’ve been very good to us. The community has been very good to us.”  TW
