lioco wine bottle

On Thurs. April 26 at 6pm, the Fearrington House will host Matt Licklider, founder of Lioco Winery, which Food & Wine Magazine has called one of "five wineries shaping our future." The evening will feature a five-course dinner prepared by Fearrington House Executive Chef Colin Bedford, with wine pairings by Licklider and Fearrington Wine Director Maximilian Kast.

Lioco was started in June 2005 by Licklider, a seasoned wine import specialist, and Kevin O'Connor, the former wine director at Michelin Two-Star Spago-Beverly Hills. Together, Licklider and O'Connor (fuse the first letters of each of their last names and you'll see where the winery's name came from) purchase fruit from independent growers in California and make the wine in a state-of-the-art crush facility in Santa Rosa, Calif. They then sell their wines to a private mailing list of wine collectors and to wholesalers in 25 states and three off-shore markets.

Tickets for this event are $165 per person, which includes tax, gratuity and an hors d'oeuvres reception with the wine maker beforehand. Seating is limited; call (919) 542-2121 to reserve your space. To find out more about Fearrington's wine maker dinner series, click here.
