Former UNC and NBA basketball player Eric Montross reads to a group of students

Students at Frank Porter Graham Elementary School have been challenged to read 680,000 minutes in two weeks for the 14th annual Read-a-thon.

On Wednesday the school held a jungle-themed Read-a-thon night. “Celebrity readers” included former UNC and NBA basketball player Eric Montross, Carrboro Mayor Mark Chilton and local author Irma Tejada. Students also had the chance to see animals from the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences and do an art project.
