Sometimes, the volunteers who make the most difference are those with the greatest wealth of experience. And an abundance of life experience and true enthusiasm is what many volunteering seniors bring to their work.
This May, in honor of Older Americans Month, Home Instead Senior Care will introduce 50 state winners and one national winner of their Salute To Senior Service program.
As the search begins for N.C.’s outstanding senior volunteers, organizers want your input. You can nominate your co-worker, friend, neighbor or any senior you feel has brought that something extra to their work. State nominees can also be entered for the national prize.
First prize for the national winner is a $5,000 donation to a non-profit charity of their choice. In addition, the fifty state winners will receive plaques and their stories will be posted on the Salute to Senior Service website.
Nominees must be 65 years or older and volunteer at least 15 hours per week. Nomination forms must be in by March 15, 2012; fill one out on the Salute to Senior Service website or send a request to ckoehler@homeinsteadinc.com.
