the dish jessee's coffee and bar

Jessee’s Coffee & Bar

401 E. Main St., Carrboro | (919) 929–0445 | www.jesseescoffee.com

It seems wrong to order a salad and hot tea from a Carrboro coffee shop known for its espresso and Sunday brunches of homemade brisket biscuits. Lucky for me, Jessee’s Coffee & Bar figures that many brisket lovers around here have counterparts searching for lighter alternatives, like a spinach salad with egg, bacon, avocado, tomato, cucumber and feta vinaigrette (I went sans egg). I am a seasoned consumer of and believer in a good hearty plate of greens. My plate was 50% spinach and 50% toppings, so there was never a bite without one or the other, and each topping was served exactly as you would cut it for yourself. Think julienned strips of cucumber, sizeable chunks of avocado and bacon that is decidedly not a bit. I washed it down with loose-leaf bergamot sage tea and left feeling like I had indulged far more than I had. $7.95  TW
