University Mall kicked off the second season of its summer concert series last Thursday night with a performance by North Tower.
Performances in the Sweet Carolina Summer Concert Series, which will run on Thursdays through June and July, will take place outdoors on a stage between Dillard's and South Estes Drive. Performers will include some of the biggest names in beach music, including The Embers, The Craig Woolard Band, and Liquid Pleasure. All concerts are free. According to Peter de Leon, University Mall general manager, the concert series grew quickly in popularity last summer with attendance numbers increasing from week to week with more than 2,000 in attendance for the final show in July.
A dance floor will be set up for shag dancing, and there will be shade tents and beverage tents selling beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks. There will also be a play area for children.
