Nothing says spring like the taste of strawberries, and the Carrboro Farmers’ Market is celebrating the season with a Strawberry Jamboree! Strawberries are one of the most popular items at the Market, and the sweet, juicy berries pair particularly well with homemade whipped cream and cake! Chef Sera Cuni of The Root Cellar will be baking up some of her signature yellow cake and volunteers will serve it up with cut strawberries and whipped cream, starting at 8:30am and lasting as long as the supply of berries. This is one sampling not to miss!
Cake and cream are not the only delicious ways to eat strawberries, and Market shoppers can also pick up a variety of strawberry recipes to take home. Shoppers who want to pick their own berries will find information on the Market’s “you-pick” strawberry farms. You-picks are a great way to get tons of yummy strawberries at a lower price and a wonderful fresh air farm experience for the family too!
There will be something for everyone at the Jamboree; Market volunteers will be running a strawberry-themed kids’ activity, and Market shoppers can enjoy live music by Skylark and The Siren!
