Join hundreds of local area residents on Sunday, September 20th at Koka Booth Amphitheater in Cary for the 1st annual Triangle Area Out of the Darkness Community Walk. Sponsored by the NC Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), the walk will raise funds and awareness for suicide prevention and will help reduce the stigma associated with suicide and mental illness. Funds raised help bring important AFSP research, education, advocacy and survivor programs to our local community. AFSP is the leading non-profit organization dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide through research, education and advocacy, and to reaching out to people with mental disorders and those impacted by suicide. With suicide claiming more than 38,000 lives each year in the US, the importance of AFSP’s mission has never been greater. With each step taken at this event, our walkers save lives, honor loved ones lost to suicide and raise funds to support AFSP’s vital mission. Please join us! Registration and check-in begin at 10am; the walk begins at 11am.
