Cedar Grove Blueberry Farm hopes to donate 250 lbs. of fruit to feed at-risk for hunger children in Chapel Hill and Carrboro during the farm’s grand opening Sunday, July 12, at 105 Persimmon Hill Lane in Cedar Grove. For every 25 lbs of blueberries picked that day, CGBF will donate one pound to Table NC’s Summer TABLE program, which feeds children 3- to 14-years-old. Summer is often the time when children are most susceptible to hunger, when they aren’t receiving school meals, according to Table NC. The grand opening is from noon to 4 p.m. on July 12 and includes an old-fashioned pig pickin’, music, yard games, fishing in the pond, and micro-press juicer. Food, drink and pre-picked blueberries are also available.
