From April through September, the Hillsborough Arts Council presents a free concert on the old courthouse lawn alongside visual arts, dance, and literature. On September 30th the featured band is 4Everall Band.

On the same evening, there is the Last Fridays Art Walk, which features art galleries and venues hosting opening night receptions.
Artists, food vendors, musicians and craftspeople set up their wares on the sidewalks around the courthouse.
The sidewalk cafes of local restaurants remain open.
Art Galleries, shops, restaurants, churches, museums and historic sites remain open and offer numerous special events.
Events, and workshops for children take place on the South lawn of the Courthouse.

An extraordinary opportunity to work with fine artist Jane Filer as she leads adults in her techniques of creating her fantastic paper mache heads from the beginning through the final surface painting that will all come together on parade day to dance down the street! You can join the parade with a big head! The Hillsborough Handmade Parade will take place on October 15, 2016.

The Hillsborough Handmade Parade is a grass roots community participation celebration sponsored and organized by the volunteers at the Hillsborough Arts Council. Starting with public workshops it culminates in a Mardi Gras style street parade, completely created by the community, with wild costumes, giant puppets, stilt-walkers, marching bands and much more.

Theme for 2016 Hillsborough Handmade Parade:
