Jefferson Hart and the Ghosts of the Old State
Original Power pop

“Built on a base of country twang but finished with touches of British Invasion rock, ‘60’s garage pop, ‘70’s Laurel Canyon and, of course, native North Carolina bluegrass and jangle pop, Ghosts of the Old North State reveals Hart as an equally fine collector and creator.” – Chris Parker, The Independent Weekly

“His prize possession is a guitar signed by over a dozen of his heroes including Paul Westerberg, John Hiatt, Robert Earl Keen, and Matthew Sweet-with a combination of that foursome providing a decent description of Hart’s sound…and from a Byrds-eye view, the pre-Clarence White Byrds. ” – Rick Cornell-No Depression

“I challenge anyone to find a better in-the-wee-hours song than the exceptional ‘From Now On’ with such lines as “Colder than the backside of your pillowcase”. Lesser artists have made careers of such songs. ” – Record Exchange Monitor

The Well Respected Men
Kinks Tribute Band

The Well Respected Men are a group of long-time record fanatics who specialize in the music and majesty of The Kinks spanning their mid-60’s British Invasion beginnings up to a selection of the RCA and Arista years. The band are Peter Holsapple (dB’s, Continental Drifters), Jody Maxwell (Sex Police), Jefferson Hart (Jeff Hart & The Ruins, Ghosts of the Old North State), Andrew Snee (Thee Dirty Beats, Sad Magazine) and Glenn Jones (8-Track Minds).

Since 1990, The Heart of Carolina Jazz Orchestra has played for thousands of jazz enthusiasts around North Carolina at schools, artscenters, festivals, dances and more. More than 35 guest artists have performed at the Jazz Society’s Temple Theatre series in Sanford. In 2002, the Orchestra’s book had over 240 tunes and their catalogue has grown since then. The book includes a carefully considered repertoire of pieces that reflect a wide range of Big Band jazz styles and arrangements. Included are classics such as ‘Two O’clock Jump’, ‘Stompin’ at the Savoy’, and ‘Frenesi’, as well as many ballads such as ‘The Nearness of You’, ‘Imagination’ and ‘September Song’. That’s a far cry from the 10 or so tunes in the book at their first Fearrington Fall Fling where they had to play pieces twice and some thrice to fill the time!
