Idlewild South
Allman Brothers Tribute Band

No cover charge

Idlewild South, an Allman Brothers tribute band, was co-founded by keyboardist and vocalist Don Eason, a veteran musician whose initial influence of an Allman Brothers Band’s live performance goes back to his first concert experience seeing the band on Easter weekend of 1970 at The Winter’s End concert in Bithlo, Florida.

A duo of drummers, including co-founder Robert Kintner and John Flowers, provides the foundation with bassist Tim Smith rounding out the rhythm section. Slide guitarist Dave George and lead guitarist/vocalist Pete Waggoner bring forth the dual guitar harmonies and searing guitar leads Duane Allman and Dickie Betts pioneered in the late 1960’s.

In the tradition of The Allman Brothers Band, Idlewild South’s live shows can exceed a staggering non-stop 3 1/2 to 4 hours. The set lists are different every night, drawing from The Allman Brothers Band’s self-titled debut album, their second album ‘Idlewild South’, ‘Live At Fillmore East’, ‘Eat A Peach’ and ‘Brothers and Sisters’. All of these albums were recorded between 1969 and 1974. A few select songs from their albums that were recorded between 1989 and 2000 are also included.

All concerts on the Southern Village Green are sponsored by Hyatt Place-Chapel Hill in Southern Village!

http://www.erichlieth.com/index.html

Erich discovered his passion for improvising 40 years ago. He plays a range of instruments including recorders, flute, guitar and wind controller, though his specialty is keyboards. After completing his PhD work in Neuroscience at the University of North Carolina, he spent 20 years doing research and teaching Neuroscience and Anatomy but never gave up his love for playing and teaching music. He has taught individual and group lessons for the last 35 years, both for improvisation and conventional music lessons. He performs regularly with the Latin band Saludos Company, his world-beat vocal jazz group One Sun and other local groups. He teaches privately in Chapel Hill, directs the Emerson Waldorf School Jazz Band and instructs music invention for the Piedmont Youth and Family Orchestra. Since 2013, he has been the founder and Executive Music Director for the Blame It On My Youth Jazz Orchestra, a premier jazz ensemble of teen musicians. He strives to help people of all ages learn to express themselves through playing music.

Saludos Company – Latin Music
http://www.saludoscompay.com/index.php

Saludos Company takes the audience on a musical tour that features traditional, contemporary and original music from Latin America and the Caribbean. This amazingly versatile trio keeps toes tapping.

Lead vocalist/guitarist Pablo Valencia, from Chile, sings a wide range of styles. He is as much at ease with a reflective bolero as with an upbeat salsa. The group performs a number of Valencia’s acclaimed original compositions, such as the romantic ‘Canción Para Dos’, the rumba ‘Bello Amor’, and the very upbeat salsa song ‘Entumido’. On keyboards, Erich Lieth adds spice to the strong Latin rhythms with improvisational piano solos and bass. Chuck Nolan, lead percussionist, intricately weaves the rhythm patterns, be it for a subtle bossa nova or a danceable cumbia.

All Sunday Concerts on the Southern Village Green are sponsored by Hyatt Place-Chapel Hill in Southern Village.
