Past recipients of Strowd Roses grants Margaret Gifford, founder and executive director of Farmer Foodshare, and Suki Newton, president of Chapel Hill–Carrboro Public School Foundation, were featured speakers at the Strowd Roses event.
Strowd Roses recently hosted a ceremony to celebrate a decade of community support. During the past 10 years, it has provided almost $4 million to fund 535 grants to 224 different organizations throughout the Chapel Hill and Carrboro area.
Strowd Roses has helped support several hundred nonprofit organizations and community initiatives with large and small grants. Some of the organizations are community-based such as The ArtsCenter. Other projects are affiliated with national organizations such as Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity and the Ronald McDonald House.
