Anna Ploghoft and John Siragusa met in the cinema club at Chapel Hill High School and started dating in 2005. Four years later, the couple got engaged in a proposal befitting their love for the dramatic arts.
John’s mom brought Anna to the Forest Theater at UNC. John, dressed in knight’s armor, rode into the theater on a toy horse, accompanied by the sound effect of horses trotting. He had his princess don a cape and crown as he asked for her hand in marriage.
The couple held their wedding and reception at the Community Church of Chapel Hill. In attendance were the bride’s parents, Janet Ploghoft of Chapel Hill and George Ploghoft of Durham, and the groom’s parents, Peter and Tina Siragusa of Chapel Hill, as well as Molly Ploghoft, Anna’s sister, who made the bridal gown.
Local members of the bridal party, in addition to Molly, included Katie Ploghoft, Samantha Hill, Olivia Siragusa, Alexander Roth and Richard Fobert, all of Chapel Hill, and Julianne Gillikin of Mebane.
The couple reside in East Norwalk, Connecticut. Anna is a rock-climbing instructor, and John does freelance TV production work. CHM
