In December 2010, Anna Katherine Clemmons and Matt Clay returned home after an intimate Italian dinner in Charlottesville, Va., and prepared coffee, tea and dessert. As they stood in their kitchen, Matt started talking about their love for each other, and before Anna Katherine knew it, he was down on one knee asking her to marry him.

It snowed the next two days, and Matt, a Latin teacher, got to stay at home, sleeping in and going sledding with his fiancée – the perfect start to a winter vacation and the rest of their lives.

The couple married at University Presbyterian Church and held their reception at The Carolina Inn. In attendance were the bride’s parents, Kathy and Dr. David R. Clemmons of Chapel Hill, and the groom’s parents, Jim and Teresa Clay of Winchester, Va.

Members of the wedding party with local ties included the bride’s sister and matron of honor, Amy Clemmons King, and bridesmaids Kristen Smith, Mary Kathryn Elkins, Sarah Daniels and Ethan Trepp.

Matt and Anna Katherine, who attended Chapel Hill High and is now a contract writer and producer for ESPN the Magazine and ESPN.com, reside in Charlottesville.  CHM
