Grand Opening of Kidzu’s Outdoor Learning Garden – Thursday, 4:30-5:30 p.m. – Buzz on out to University Place for the new installment of indoor and outdoor pollinator exhibits at Kidzu Children’s Museum. Help put the final touches on the Outdoor Learning Garden by planting the herb garden and helping decorate the garden stakes. The ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. and the adults can enjoy bees knees cocktail starting at 5:30 p.m. at City Kitchen. Don’t miss this event for the whole family to bee creative.

Southern Village Summer Outdoor Concert Series – Thursday, 7 p.m. – Come out to the Village Green for some genuine folk music from Swedish folk music group Scandimonium.

Movies Under the Stars – Thursday, 8:30-10 p.m. – Enjoy a summer evening out with the family to watch “Guardians of the Galaxy.” Come downtown to Wallace Deck for popcorn and movies under a blanket of stars.

Burk Uzzle Exhibition Opening – Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. – The new exhibit opening at Ackland Art Museum displays 42 works by photographer Burke Uzlle that are “All About America.” These photographs chronicle American history, beginning in the 1960s journeying all the way to the present. This exhibition will be open through September 11 at the museum.

Fridays on the Front Porch – Friday, 5-8 p.m. – The perfect start to your weekend begins on the Carolina Inn lawn with live music from Fireside Collective. Also indulge your taste buds at Stuffit and Heavenly Smoke food trucks while you kick back on the grass.

Last Fridays Art Walk and Concert Series – Friday, 6:30-9:30 p.m. – Come enjoy this town-wide social event in Hillsborough. The art walk showcases the talents of local artists throughout the participating downtown galleries and busnuisses. As you stroll along take in all the art and take some time to hear The Holiday Band on the old courthouse lawn.

Malarazza at Johnny’s Gone Fishing – Friday, 7-9 p.m. – Ready to enjoy a virtual trip to Italy? Come out to hear classic folk music of the Italian countryside.

Outdoor Movies on the Green – Friday & Saturday, 8:30-10 p.m. – Experience another film under the stars at The Lumina. Bring out the whole family for “Angry Birds” to encounter the adventure of three unlikely heroes.

Abundance 10 Year Anniversary Party – Saturday, 5-11:30 p.m. – Celebrate your inner superhero at Abundance’s 10 year anniversary party at The Plant in Pittsboro. Get creative and come dressed as your own superhero while you enjoy live music, face painting, food trucks and more!

FRANK’s Summer Cooldown – Saturday, 6-10 p.m. – Enjoy an evening of art, music, food and fun at FRANK. Come learn the tango, enjoy a tapas meal and enter for your chance to win prizes.

Kate Rudy at Johnny’s Gone Fishing – Saturday, 7-9 p.m. – Don’t miss these river folk blues inspired by Boone. Be there for a night of American folk music inspired by the high North Carolina mountaineer style.

Memorial Race at the Speedway – Saturday, 7-9 p.m. – Start your engines for a night of fun at the Orange County Speedway. The 4th annual Paul Ring Memorial Race brings together young and old for a night of high speed races from the classics to the trucks. Don’t miss this high speed adventure!

The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover: Reimagined – Saturday, 8-10 p.m. – The Arts Center presents Peter Greenaway’s 1989 film edit of “The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover” seen alongside a new original score written and performed by Tim Carless. This blending of the older original film alongside the reinvented new score creates an exciting twist of art and collaboration between two amazing artists.

Family and Friends Event at the Ackland – Sunday, 1-5 p.m. – Discover a new level to art at the Ackland Art Museum with all your loved ones. This interactive art exhibit brings together the displayed masterpieces together with the local inspirations of the community. Playing games, creating versions of the artwork of the month, staging interviews, and much more fun to help connect each individual to the art on a new, deeper level.

The String Peddlers at Southern Outdoor Concert Series – Sunday, 6-8 p.m. – Come out for another great experience on Village Green stage as Southern Village brings The String Peddlers to their series. This eclectic experience brings a new sound to the stage with their acoustic musical creations.
