Weekend at a Glance: Sports, Shopping & Storytelling

NC State vs. UNC Football Game – Friday, noon – The UNC Tar Heels will host the NC State Wolfpack this Friday at Kenan Memorial Stadium.

“Who is Lydia Loveless” Screening – Friday, 8pm – Come out to The ArtsCenter in Carrboro for a presentation of Gorman Bechard’s film on rock and roll and live performances.

Regulators Historic Tour – Friday, 3pm – Join Alamance Battleground Manager Jeremiah DeGennaro as he leads a walking tour through Historic Hillsborough, starting at the Hillsborough Visitors Center.

Last Fridays Art Walk – Friday, 6pm – Artists and craft makers present their work at this art walk at the corner of Churton and King St in Downtown Hillsborough.

Weekly Wine Tasting – Friday, 3pm – Fearrington Sommelier Colin Williams will be offering free wine tastings each Friday at The Goat from 3-6pm. Stop by to taste a hand-selected beer and wine, and ask Colin to help you find a bottle to take home.

Small Business Saturday – Saturday, all day – Shop small this Saturday at small businesses across town, including those at University Place.

Holiday Popup Shop – Saturday, noon-4pm; Sunday, 1-5pm – Meet artists Susi Lief and Catherine Kramer at the Hillsborough Art Council Gallery and Gift Shop this weekend.

Gingerbread House Decorating Sessions – Saturday & Sunday, noon & 3pm; Monday & Tuesday, 5pm – Get creative with icing and gingerbread at Southern Season‘s festive decorating sessons. All ages welcome.

Emmalea Deal Performance – Saturday, 7pm – Check out this young artist and songwriter at Johnny’s Gone Fishing.

Holiday Storytelling – Saturday, 6:30pm – Come to the Orange County Historical Museum for a night of music, laughter and stories that are sure to put anyone in the holiday spirit. Tickets can be purchased prior to the event or at the door.

“The May Queen” Performances – Saturday, 7:30pm, Sunday 2pm – PlayMakers Repertory Company present Molly Smith Metzler’s “The May Queen,” a comedic tale of coming home to a small town, at the Paul Greene Theatre.

“After Orlando” Performance – Monday, 7:30pm – The PlayMakers Repertory Company is partnering with local theater companies Little Green Pig, Black Ops and the Kenan Theater Company for a staged reading of “After Orlando,” a series of short plays discussing the tragedy at the Pulse Night Club in Orlando Florida.
