Weekend at a Glance: Plants, Parties & PlayMakers

Balance your classical music and theater this weekend with grub fests and gardening.

North Carolina Symphony perform Schubert’s “The Great” Symphony – Thursday, 7:30pm – Come out to Memorial Hall to hear the iconic and talented NC Symphony play Franz Schubert’s final piece, called his “Great Symphony.”

PlayMakers’ “Mr. Joy” – Thursday – Sunday, 7:30pm, matinee Sunday at 2pm – In PlayMakers’ last show of their 2016-2017 season, Kenan Theatre will be transformed into Harlem with the story of how a mysterious closure of a shop affects a community, and shows they’re all closer than they think.

West Fest – Friday-Sunday, various times – At this weekend-long free block party, come get a taste of summer while the weather is still below 90. Switching between stages at Nash Street Tavern and Mystery Brewing in Hillsborough, attendees can hear an array of local music and grab a pint, while they’re at it.

Spring Plant Sale and Festival – Saturday, 3-7pm – Calling all plant lovers: the NC Botanical Garden is having their annual spring plant sale and festival. The festival will feature plants for sale native to the garden and surrounding nurseries, as well as live music and everyone’s favorite food trucks.

TABLE Food Truck Rodeo – Saturday, 3-7pm – TABLE will have this 5th annual family-fun event at Orange United Methodist Church to benefit local Chapel Hill and Carborro children. Eat, play and donate to a good cause!
