Local environmental educator and children’s book writer and illustrator, Bob Palmatier, is bringing his pollinatin’ posse of butterflies and bees to Kidzu Children’s Museum for your little ones to learn about, sketch and paint!
Movies on Market: Beauty and the Beast — Saturday, 8:30-10:30pm — Heavy rain can’t bring this classic down! Come out to Southern Village to watch the rescheduled screening of this wonder-filled film for free.
Picnic in the Park with Music Makers — Sunday, 11am-3pm — Have a pre-Independence Day party with the family in Hillsborough at the Eno River Farmer’s Market Pavilion for a live reading of the Declaration of Independence, grub from an array of food trucks and live, soulful music the whole afternoon!
Fourth of July Festivities in Carrboro and Chapel Hill — Tuesday, all day — Still trying to decide how to celebrate America’s independence? Head to Weaver Street Market for a kick-off event in the morning and Carrboro Town Hall for other fun events like the watermelon seed-spitting contest in the afternoon. Then, take a short drive over to Kenan Memorial Stadium to participate in a watermelon eating contest sponsored by DSI Comedy Theater, listen to the RadioJacks play live and enjoy some fireworks!
