17c – Thursday, 7:30pm; Friday, 8pm – Before social media, people assigned real-time meaning to our daily existence through our diaries. Big Dance Theater theatricizes these moments through dance in their portrayal and dissection of a 17th century Englishman’s diary at Memorial Hall. 

Low Country Life – Friday-Saturday – Gullah and Southern culture intertwine with personal stories in Irene Tison’s paintings, which will be shown in a new exhibition at the Alexander Dickson House. The exhibition will be open through January and is presented by The Alliance for Historic Hillsborough and Mike’s Art Truck.

VIP Night – Friday, 5-9pm – Get exclusive access to the Carolina Women’s Show and a fun girls night of networking, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and free goodies.

Into the Woods 5K – Saturday, 9:05am – Looking to get active this weekend? Woods Charter School’s fifth annual race is open to walkers and runners of all ability levels and the morning will feature a live band and kids activities.

7 Days of ISLA Celebration – Saturday, 9-11am – Come celebrate the wrap-up for Immersion for Spanish Language Acquisition’s (ISLA) weeklong fundraising campaign with a celebration at St. Thomas More School. The whole family can enjoy a salsa dance class, a raffle drawing and refreshments. The campaign’s goal is to raise money to support local programs empowering Latino youth and families as well as connecting communities through Spanish language and culture.

PawsFest – Saturday, 10am-2pm – Support Paws4ever by getting active with all members of the family, even the furry ones, at the Southern Village festival. Take a brisk walk or run, enter in a raffle for big prizes and enjoy the DJ, games, vendors, snacks and dog activities.

Open Studio Tour – Saturday, 10am-5pm; Sunday, noon-5pm – Support and learn about local artists through Orange County Artists Guild’s 23rd annual studio tour, where over 80 local artists open their working studios for public viewing. Take this chance to view a working artist studio, ask questions and shop for art.

Flash of Light, Fog of War Dinner – Saturday, 6:30-9:30pm – Join the Ackland Museum for a special evening to honor the donors of the museum’s new exhibit of Japanese military prints. All proceeds will benefit the Ackland’s Ruth and Sherman Lee Fund for Asian Art.

Spectrum of Speakers with Erik Thomsen – Sunday, 5pm – Come out to the first night of the Ackland Museum’s speaker series in celebration of Color Across Asia, a re-installation of their Asian galleries by color. Tickets are available for purchase at the Ackland Museum Store or by phone.

Four Courses – Four Beers for Charity – Sunday, 5:30-9pm – Enjoy a night of food and beer with a pop up dinner at Midway Community Kitchen, hosted by Chef Ashleigh Scherman, formerly of The Carolina Club. Each of the four courses will be paired with a local beer selection and all proceeds will benefit TABLE.
