Weekend at a Glance: Plays, Pop-up Shops and Parties

Celebrate this week of giving thanks by checking out a few of these holiday-themed events!

Chatham Mills Pre-Thanksgiving Market – Wednesday, 2-5pm – In need of some last-minute ingredients for your Thanksgiving feast? Head out to the Chatham Mills Farmers’ Market in Pittsboro for fall veggies, meat, poultry, eggs and baked goods as well as holiday table arrangements!

Dot Wednesday-Saturday, 7:30pm; Sunday, 2pm – Have some laughs this holiday season at this family comedy penned by Colman Domingo of AMC’s The Walking Dead in its regional premiere at PlayMaker’s Repertory Company.

FRANK Gallery Holiday Pop-Up Event – Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10am-6pm; Sundays 1-6pm –  Head to University Place starting Nov. 24 to the new location of FRANK Gallery. Its holiday pop-up shop will showcase small gift items like photos, paintings, fine art and jewelry by local artists. The event runs through Dec. 24.

Black Friday Art Bazaar and Re-release Party – Friday, 2-6pm – It’s the fourth annual Art Bazaar at Fair Game Beverage Co. in Pittsboro. All vendors are from Chatham County and will be showing off handmade items plus craft spirits, wines and beers. This event will also feature the re-release of the cult favorite Ferris port-style red wine that has been sold out since last December!

Hillsborough Art Walk Last Friday – Friday, 6-9pm – Join the Hillsborough Arts Council for a free walk through the historic town to enjoy local art galleries, boutiques and award-winning restaurants. This event happens rain or shine.

Holiday Handmade Pop-Up Market – Saturday, 9am-1pm – Visit Perch Studios, located behind Steel String Brewery and Fifth Season Gardening Co., to get a glimpse of work by local makers that includes terrariums, food, stationery, pottery and more!

Arthur Christmas – Saturday, 10am – Take the little ones to The Lumina Theater for the first showing in its Holiday Classics Movie Series, “Arthur Christmas.” The British-American animated feature tells the story of Arthur as he seeks to answer the question, “How can Santa deliver billions of presents to the whole world in just one night?” Tickets are $5.

Gingerbread House Decorating – Saturday, 12pm – All ages are welcome to unleash their candy creativity at Southern Season. Come alone or bring the whole family to listen to holiday songs, decorate a gingerbread house and munch on snacks. For $45, a blank house and an assortment of candy will be provided.
