Weekend at a Glance: Santa, Storytelling and Sounds of the Season

A Christmas Carol – Thursday, 7:30pm; Friday, 7:30pm; Saturday, 7:30pm; Sunday, 2pm and 7:30pm – PlayMakers Repertory Company presents this beloved holiday tale at Kenan Theatre. Tickets start at $15.

Nutcracker on Ice – Friday, 6pm; Saturday, noon – See the classic tale told by skating actors at Orange County Sportsplex. Tickets start at $8.

Santa Claus at Maple View Ice Cream – Friday, 4-8pm – Head on over to Maple View Farm to visit Santa and his helpers while enjoying a delicious holiday-themed treat. Donations will benefit Sam’s Wish Fund Holiday Cheer and holiday gifts will be collected and donated to Kids Path.

Holiday Classic Movie Series – Saturday, 10am – Watch Buddy find his dad in the holiday classic “Elf” at The Lumina Theater. No cotton-headed ninny-muggins allowed. Admission is $5.

Second Annual Holiday Circle Show – Saturday, 8pm – The ArtsCenter‘s annual Songs for the Circle brings the best in classic American folk and bluegrass, with a second program celebrating the holidays. Admission is $25.

Chatham County Line’s “Electric Holiday Tour” – Saturday, 8pm – Fresh off stops in Richmond and Washington, D.C., Chatham County Line ends its “Electric Holiday Tour” at the Haw River Ballroom in Saxapahaw with acoustic and electric sets. Tickets are $20.

The Carolina Inn Holiday Market – Saturday, 3-8 p.m. – Embrace the holiday atmosphere and shop from the market filled with chocolates, jewelry and ornaments, plus food and sweets to get into the Christmas spirit.

Donald Davis Storytelling – Saturday, 11am; Sunday, 2pm – Renowned storyteller Donald Davis is back this holiday season to spin tales at The Fearrington Barn. Donations of canned goods and gently used children’s books are encouraged.

Santa Claus and Baby Goats: Farm Winterfest – Saturday & Sunday, 2pm – Interact with Santa and baby goats, ride the Farm Express Train or hayride and enjoy various kids activities with Spring Haven Farm on weekends in December. Admission is $10 for adults and children. Free for kids under 4.
