Weekend at a Glance: Weddings, Wellness and Working with Legos

See intricate Lego creations and create some of your own at the Morehead Planetarium this weekend.

Pop-Up Performance – Thursday, 12:15pm – Acclaimed choreographer Michelle Dorrance and her groundbreaking company Dorrance Dance will perform at the FedEx Global Education Center and Koury Atrium as part of UNC‘s Arts Everywhere initiative. Free.

Panera for the Kids – Thursday, 4-8pm – Stop by the Panera Bread on Franklin Street and treat yourself while benefiting a good cause. Present the flyer and 20% of the proceeds from your order will go to the Carolina for the Kids Foundation.

Ira Knight Presents: Martin Luther King, An Interpretation – Thursday, 7pm – This unique one-man performance, held at The ArtsCenter, is an informative perspective that brings MLK to life, from the realm of mythical icon to a regular human being. These performances have touched audiences from high school to age 85. Tickets: $20

North Carolina Symphony presents “Schubert Unfinished” – Thursday, 7:30pm – Spend a night at Memorial Hall listening to the exciting and iconic music of Grammy-nominated violinist Philippe Quint, as well as the North Carolina Symphony conducted by Grant Llewellyn. Additional performances in Raleigh Friday and Saturday. Tickets: $18+

Mini Golf @ the Library – Friday, 6-8pm – Drop in for a round of mini golf after hours in the Orange County Public Library. This fun-filled, library-themed course is sure to challenge your putting skills. Best for children ages 5 and up and their caregivers. Free.

Wellfest, a New Year’s Wellness Fair – Saturday, 10am-2pm – Get help with your New Year’s resolutions at this free event at Southern Village. More than 15 local health and wellness practitioners and service providers will be on hand to tell you about the newest wellness trends, services and products.

LEGO-Palooza 2018 – Saturday, 11am-4pm; Sunday, 1-4pm – Come see intricate LEGO exhibits featuring outer space, amusement parks, city landmarks and more at Morehead Planetarium & Science Center. The free event will also have LEGO activities so kids can come up with their own creations!

National Tea Month Tasting – Sunday, 11am-4pm – Visit Southern Season‘s coffee and tea department for a tasting of two delicious and unusual Chinese teas during the last weekend of National Tea Month.

The Carolina Inn’s 23rd Annual Wedding Showcase – Sunday, 1-4pm – The Carolina Inn brings 80 of the most talented wedding vendors from across the Triangle and the Carolinas for an afternoon of exhibits from professional photographers, bakers, wedding planners and more. Tickets: $15

Voice Rising – Monday, 7pm – Flyleaf Books and Michael Venutolo-Mantovani present Voice Rising, an event that pairs a small slate of hand-picked, local writers – be they unpublished, lesser-known or on the brink of a bigger stage – with one of the area’s myriad renowned writers for a truly unique evening. This weekend will feature local writers Diana Mellow and Heather Wilson with renowned writer Daniel Wallace, the director of UNC’s creative writing program.

Destroyer Comes to Carrboro – Tuesday, 8pm – See Canadian rock band Destroyer at Cat’s Cradle. The band is touring North America to support their new album ken.
