Weekend at a Glance: Bluegrass, Baby Goats and Breweries

Thursday

Weaver Street After Hours – Thursday, 6-8pm – Join in at the Carrboro lawn for live music by Scouts Gone.

Starry Nights: Summer Skies – Thursday, 7:30-9pm – Hear stories and explore the night sky under the planetarium dome during the Starry Nights program at Morehead Planetarium and Science Center. Tickets can be purchased on the planetarium’s website or at the door!

Friday

Fridays on the Front Porch – Friday, 5-8pm – Big Fat Gap will be performing during Carolina Inn’s end-of-the-work-week jamboree. Come enjoy lively bluegrass music and indulge in local fare from an assortment of food trucks.

Last Fridays – Friday, 6:30-9:30pm – Johnny White and the Elite Band is featured alongside visual arts, dance and literature at this week’s Last Fridays in Hillsborough. The concert and art walk will take place on the old courthouse lawn.

Farm Movie Night with Baby Goats – Friday, 8:30-10:30pm – Watch a family friendly movie and snuggle up to baby goats at Spring Haven Farm! Tickets can be purchased here and concessions will be open during the event.

Saturday

Cardinal Directions Beer Festival – Saturday, 5-8pm – Over 30 NC breweries will be in Carrboro for the 4th annual Cardinal Directions Beer Festival. The event is open to the public and is dog-friendly. Tickets are only required if you plan to consume alcohol.

Isle of Dog – Saturday, 8:30-10:30pm – A showing of Isle of Dog, a family friendly movie, will take place at the Southern Village Green.

Farm Summerfest with Goats – Saturday 3-7pm – Play with farm animals, eat at the farm stand and take a hayride during Spring Haven Farm’s Summerfest! Tickets are available here.

Sunday

Jazz Brunch – Friday, 11am-1pm – Bring a picnic blanket or lawn chairs to Carrboro’s Weaver Street Market and listen to jazz music put on by Buzz Lloyd.

Hillsborough’s Picnic in the Park – Sunday, 11-3pm – The annual Picnic in the Park will be held at the River Park Farmers Market Pavilion. Music Makers Relief Foundation is supplying an abundance of American Blues and Roots Music for a free outdoor concert.

Concert on the Green – Sunday, 6-8pm – Bring your family to the Southern Village Green to hear The Holland Brothers, an acoustic blues band. Family picnics and free will tips for the musicians are encouraged.
