Weekend at a Glance: Puppets, Pop-up and Puppy Hour

Thursday

Christopher Robin – Thursday, 7:30pm – Take the whole family out to The Lumina for the opening weekend of “Christopher Robin,” the newest Disney film that reconnects Winnie the Pooh with the now grown-up Christopher Robin.

After Hours Late Summer – Thursday, 6-8pm – Come out to Weaver Street Market in Carrboro and listen to some live music in the courtyard.

Friday

Ferdinand – Friday, 2pm-3:30pm – Come out to the Chapel Hill Public Library for a showing of “Ferdinand”, popcorn is provided!

Fridays on the Front Porch – Friday, 5-8pm – Enjoy local food trucks, drinks and live music on the Carolina Inn’s front porch. Old Well Wishers are coming back to the stage this weekend.

Friday on the Green – Friday, 7pm – Get your groove on with Batala Durham, a samba reggae band playing on the Southern Village green. Bring the kids and your dancing shoes!

Paperhand Puppet Intervention – Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 7pm  – Enjoy “In the Heart of Fire,” a handcrafted puppet pageant showcasing stilt-walking cardboard and paper mache puppets at the Forest Theatre.  

Saturday

Eno River Farmers’ Market – Saturday, 8am-12pm – Come out and browse the latest harvest and handcrafted items vendors have to share! This Saturday, join Coach Westbrook in a Family Fitness program. (Did you know: Eno River Farmers’ Market welcomes dogs to the market 8am-9am. Bring your furry friend along!)

Pop-up Happy Hour – Saturday, 5pm-7pm – Join us in Vimala’s Curryblossom Cafe courtyard for our first Happy Hour! Taste dishes from Lantern, Crossroads Chapel Hill, La Residence and Vimala’s Curryblossom Cafe and sip on drinks from TOPO Organic Spirits or a beer from Top of the Hill.

Hillsborough Ghost Tour – Saturday, 6-8pm – Have you ever seen a ghost? Come and check out several haunted houses in Hillsborough, like Seven Hearths and Old Poplar. A 260 year old town is bound to have acquired a few ghosts!

Learning Outside – Saturday, 10am-12pm – Looking for summer camps or after-school opportunities? Visit Learning Outside for an Open House this Saturday and learn about what they offer including, Forest Kindergarten, after-school Nature Clubs and summer camps!

Sunday

Sunday Concert on the Green – Sunday, 6pm – Just because you’re in the Piedmont doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy some beach tunes! Join El Mirage, a classic surf rock band on the Southern Village green!

Pay What You Can – Recurring first Sundays, 1-5pm – Need an opportunity to get the kids out of the house? Here’s your chance! At Kidzu Children’s Museum, every first Sunday is a Fun-day with the Pay What You Can event, focused on making the museum accessible to everyone.
