Weekend at a Glance: Popcorn, Puppets and Poetry

Thursday

Movie Under the Stars: “Coco” – Thursday, 8:30pm – Grab a blanket and the kids and head to Wallace Deck for a screening of “Coco” under the stars.

Poetry Series – Thursday, 7pm-8:30pm – Attend a poetry reading by authors Valerie Macon and Dorothy Baird and an open mic night at Flyleaf Books. 

Friday

Family Movie: “Wreck it Ralph” – Friday, 2pm-3:30pm – Bring the family to enjoy free popcorn and a showing of Wreck it Ralph at the Chapel Hill Public Library.

Fridays on the Front Porch – Friday, 5-8pm – Enjoy local food trucks, drinks and live music on the Carolina Inn’s front porch. Old Well Wishers are coming back to the stage this weekend.

Summer Movie Series – Friday, 7pm – Enjoy vintage movies at the Orange County Historical Museum.

Paperhand Puppet Intervention Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 7pm  – Enjoy “In the Heart of Fire,” a handcrafted puppet pageant showcasing stilt-walking cardboard and paper mache puppets at the Forest Theatre.

Saturday

Hargraves Family Fun Day – Saturday, 5pm-9pm – Bring the family to the Hargraves Community Center to partake in an evening of music, food, swimming and games for all ages.

Detective Murder Mystery Dinner – Saturday, 6pm-9pm – Take part in a comedy murder mystery show at the Sheraton Chapel Hill Hotel. As dinner progresses, you’ll learn more about the criminal among you and might even find yourself looking like a suspect.

Sunday

Concert on the Village Green – Sunday, 6pm – Come out Southern Village to listen to music by Beer and Hymns.
