Weekend at a Glance: November 29-December 2

The Nutcracker returns to Memorial Hall this weekend only. A family affair and holiday tradition filled with beloved characters and dances. Photo courtesy of Carolina Performing Arts.

The Carolina Indian Circle will be ending American Indian Heritage Month with their CIC Culture Show, which will showcase a variety of rich American Indian cultures across the state. Watch American-Indian students from UNC and NC State University share their history through dance, song and fashion. Admission is free.

Enjoy a few drinks and appetizers as you peruse locally made art at the opening reception of “Deck the Walls” Winter Art Fest at the Frank Gallery supporting the Orange County Artists Guild. Maybe even purchase a gift or two for your loved ones.

Experience a Chapel Hill holiday tradition at Memorial Hall for the Carolina Ballet‘s magical show The Nutcracker. Kids’ tickets are half-price, and bring them early for free hot chocolate, activities with Kidzu and photos with the Nutcracker. And if you can’t make it Saturday, there will be a performance on Sunday, too!

Embrace the holiday atmosphere at The Carolina Inn Holiday Market the first three Sundays of December. With vendors from all over the state, their market is the perfect opportunity to shop for hand-crafted yuletide gifts from chocolates to jewelry to garlands and ornaments.
