The League of Women Voters of Orange, Durham and Chatham counties is hosting a panel discussion in response to HB 436 which removes, from counties and municipalities, the power to levy impact fees on developers. The forum will take place on Wednesday April 19, 2017, 7-8:30 PM in the Council Chamber, Chapel Hill Town Council, 405 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Chapel Hill.
As communities grow, counties and municipalities can currently levy impact fees on developers to help pay for the roads, utilities, schools and other services needed. House Bill 436 would take away the power to levy these fees.
Each panelist will talk about the effect the bill would have on their county, followed by a question and answer period. Panelists include: Cedric Johnson: Policy Analyst, Budget and Tax Center at The NC Justice Center; Debra Henzey: Director of Community Relations, Chatham County Manager’s Office; Annette Moore: Interim Director, Orange County Department of Housing, Human Rights and Community Development.
The forum is free and open to the public. Free parking is available.
