An early fast-paced hike on Poets Walk is a great way to start the day. The Ayr Mount estate (circa 1815) and its trails provide visitors with some of the most beautiful landscapes in the Triangle. We’ll hike two or three miles, slowing down briefly to view the remnants of the the Old Indian Trading Path and the Eno River, finishing in a picturesque meadow complete with pond and forested hills in the background. We can also try to imagine where the Mountains-to-Sea trail might cross over the Eno to the Historic Occoneechee Speedway trail sometime in the future.
