Fused Glass and Quilts Featured @ WomanCraft Gifts

Come and celebrate the end of Florence and the wonderful work of two artistans at WomanCraft this Friday
.
Carolyn Doyle works in both fabric and clay. At this event, she will be showing several new quilts. You can also explore her beautiful clay creations and fabric items during your visit.

Jennifer Strickland creates beautiful decorative and utilitarian pieces in fused glass. Her pieces are composed of cut, crushed and powdered glass that is then fused in a kiln to create a solid piece.

This is a great opportunity to learn about several mediums from two of the best! And as always – light refreshments are on us!

Photo Books Pop-Up: Rare and Special Photo Books from the Sloane Art Library Collection @ Ackland Art Museum, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

The Sloane Art Library, part of the University Libraries, will show a selection of its significant and rare photo books at the Ackland Art Museum during 2nd Friday ArtWalk in Chapel Hill and Carrboro. The event is part of the Click! Photography Festival.

Hillsborough Handmade Parade @ Downtown Hillsborough

The Hillsborough Handmade Parade is a grassroots community participatory celebration sponsored and organized by the Hillsborough Arts Council. This Mardi Gras style street parade is completely created by the community and includes wild costumes, giant puppets, stilt-walkers, marching bands and much more creating a spectacle of art, creativity, and public theater and music.

This year’s theme is “Magical Menagerie on the Eno.” The parade will begin at 2:30 pm at the Town Hall at 101 East Orange Street and end with a Grande Finale with drumming and food at the Farmers Market Pavilion.
